Israel Continues its use of Bullets that are PROHIBITED by International Law

Since September 29, 2000, more than 6,500 Palestinians were injured by live Israeli ammunition and rubber-coated steel bullets.  Amongst there were 1,600 children and 700 handicapped.

82% of the injured Palestinians were hit by dumdum bullets (vicious bullet that explodes inside the human body to maximize its lethal effects).  The dumdum bullet is prohibited by international law.

The Israeli occupation forces also use missiles fired from both planes and tanks at Palestinian residential areas and at Palestinian demonstrators.

The Israeli forces also arrested more than 500 Palestinians since the beginning of the Intifada.

Ambulances and medics are among the targets of Israeli soldiers and settlers. (NOTE:  The medic M. A-Baleisi was shot dead while trying to reach the child Mohamad Al-Durra and his father).

26 ambulances have been attacked, 29 medics and medical volunteers in the Red Crescent were injured by Israeli soldiers.

Moreover, 45 ambulances have been hindered by the Israeli military blockades, both from arriving to the injured and taking them to hospitals.

The coordinator of the U.N. issued a report on the losses which the Palestinian economy has suffered as a result of the blockade on the Palestinian cities, villages and refugee camps by the Israeli forces since the beginning of the Intifada till October 18, 2000.  The report estimates the losses as ($186.2 million), i.e ($9.8 million) daily.
